An initial Phase 1 habitat survey undertaken in accordance with current survey guidelines is often one of the first surveys undertaken on a site. This survey aims to categorise and map the broad habitat types found on site. This survey is often extended to note the potential for protected species to be present.

The importance of a good initial survey is imperative to understanding the potential ecological constraints present, and determining the  requirement for further species specific surveys. By undertaking this type of survey early on in a project, project costs, legal risk and delays can be reduced with the effective programming of further surveys with sufficient lead in time.

Sonar Ecology has undertaken numerous Phase 1 Habitat surveys for a variety of sites and we would be happy to assist you and your project, please contact us for a fee quote.
