Sonar Ecology® is an independent ecological consultancy based in Kent, covering the south eastern counties including Berkshire, Sussex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Kent and Medway Regions. We specialise in bat surveys; delivering advice and services relating to bats as well as other protected species within the planning context. We also provide professional services relating to habitat assessments to inform planning, management and design. Through our work, we ensure legal obligations are met and the information and services provided are compliant with best practice.
Sonar Ecology® are full members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and hold all the relevant licences to be able to undertake work on key protected species. Dr Liat Wicks Director of Sonar Ecology is also a Chartered Ecologist and upholds the highest standards in the work we do. In addition we have extensive experience relating to habitat management plans, mitigation and compensation measures, drafting Protected Species Master Plans for major infrastructure projects, and providing strategic level advice and input throughout all stages of a project.
Our overall aim is to make sure development, regardless of scale, can progress in a sustainable way and that the protected species and habitats which enrich our environment are considered within the planning and design stages of each project. We ensure that wildlife legislation is not contravened and projects result in biodiversity gains, in line with current planning policy – Dr Liat Wicks BSc MSc CEcol MCIEM
